What is Pilates?
The Pilates method is based on the body and mind principles created by Joseph H. Pilates. It strengthens weak muscles, stretches tight or shortened muscles and increases joint motion also promoting bodily awareness.
The body is worked as a whole from the deepest to the most peripheral muscles. Body alignment is important in every exercise such are breathing and focus hence correcting the person's global posture.
Strength, balance and brightness are worked from the inside out.
Silvia Duarte & Pilates
Pilates was introduced in Silvia Duarte's life at the right time, shortly before Yoga. According to Silvia Duarte, "Time is the core factor, introducing us to the needs of the present, we only need to be attentive, and that's what followed." Pilates invited Silvia Duarte to join, at a point where she was receptive to the full holistic essence. Silvia Duarte wound up exchanging her Fitness practices for Pilates and Yoga. The bodily awareness brought her countless benefits and she decided to deepen the technique to pass it on to her students.
